Ilwaco Fly By!

On a beautiful morning last year Gary Kobes, the Project Manager for our Community Building Restoration and the rebuild of our Firehall , was kind enough to take me for an incredible ride in his Cessna Cardinal.
Ilwaco

We departed from the Astoria Airport at daybreak and cruised from Cannon Beach to Long Beach with a special emphasis on Ilwaco, of course!

[...] As the coastal winds start to die down (after this winter less than 60mph seems like a breeze) and the early spring flowers start to bloom and others are just poking their heads out of the dirt, I am reminded what a beautiful area it is here. Of all the gorgeous pictures taken up and down this Peninsula, I saw three the other day that took my breath away. They were taken by a local man and are posted on the City of Ilwaco website. Go to http://www.ilwacowashington.com, click on “What’s New” and then under Recent Postings click on Ilwaco Fly-By! [...]

I was just looking again at these marvelous photographs and was reminded of all of the incredible natural beauty that we are so fortunate to live within. This past weekend I came down to the Port for dinner at Pelicano. The days are getting longer and while it was cold and snowy all day there were hints of Spring all along the Port – daffodils and pansies and amorous ducks! Mostly there was this incredible purple/pink glow as the sun set and reflected on the harbor. What a magical place to sit and enjoy the changing of the season!

These are terrific photos. As a new landscape/commercial photographer- I’m always interested to see what others appreciate as far as the natural beauty that surrounds us. Glad to have found this site and these pictures that do testify to the incredible gift we have living in such a place of beauty.
And if anyone ever wants to have a passenger for a flight over this area for a photo opportunity- just post it on my message board at the Astoria Visual Arts site at http://www.astoriaarts.com/abaumgartner. Thanks!!
